What Does Acts 23:35 Mean?
Felix grants a lawful hearing — "when thine accusers are also come" — and lodges Paul in the great residence Herod had built at Caesarea, now the governor's headquarters. The trial opens five days later (Acts 24:1).
The chapter that began with a blow to the mouth ends with Paul guarded in a king's hall, the Lord's promise of Rome standing over him. He is not free, but he is kept.
