What Does Acts 6:8 Mean?
The story now follows Stephen, first named of the seven. Chosen to oversee the widows' care, he is not confined to it: full of faith and power, he works great wonders and miracles among the people — signs of the kind Luke has so far recorded of the apostles (Acts 2:43; 5:12).
Power follows fulness. Stephen's wonders flow not from office or ambition but from a life filled with faith and the Holy Ghost (v. 5).
