What Does Acts 9:18 Mean?
The cure is immediate and physical — Luke describes flakes falling from the eyes as the darkness of three days ends. Notice the order of Saul’s first free actions: before food, before anything else (v. 19), he stands up and is baptized, there in the city where he had arrived blind.
New sight and new birth arrive together, and the inward change is sealed in water without a day’s delay. The man who once saw only blasphemy in the church now sees — truly sees — and his first act is glad obedience. When God opens a person’s eyes, the feet soon follow.
