Amos completes his answer with the heart of it: "the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel." His commission comes not from Bethel, not from any school, but directly from God, who reached into his ordinary work and sent him. He stands where he stands because he was taken and told to go.
