What Does Daniel 2:18 Mean?
Daniel's plan is prayer. He urges his friends to seek mercy from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that they and their fellows might be spared. In the heart of a pagan empire, four young men turn to the living God as their only hope.
Notice that they plead for mercy, not merit; they come as those who deserve nothing and trust everything to God's kindness. The title "God of heaven" sets Him above all Babylon's earthbound powers. When the impossible presses in, the faithful response is to ask, humbly and together, for the mercy only He can give.
