What Does Ecclesiastes 3:6 Mean?
The Preacher turns to possessions and the grip we keep on them. Acquiring and losing, keeping and discarding, are set side by side as ordinary parts of life under the sun, where nothing earthly is held permanently.
Here is freedom from the tyranny of accumulation. Some seasons are for gathering; others ask us to let go, whether by choice or loss. A heart that grasps everything will be broken by the seasons of losing; a heart held loosely can receive and release with peace. Treasure that cannot be lost is treasure laid up beyond the reach of time, and that is where the wise learn to set their hope.
