What Does Ephesians 2:18 Mean?
The fruit of reconciliation is 'access' -- the right to come near to God. Through Christ, 'we both' may approach the Father, the formerly divided now drawing near together. The door once shut to outsiders stands open to all who are in the Son.
This access comes 'by one Spirit unto the Father.' Father, Son, and Spirit are all named in this single movement of approach: we come to the Father, through the Son, by the Spirit. The whole of God is engaged in bringing His people near, and the way to His presence is wide open.
