What Does Ephesians 5:28 Mean?
Paul brings the principle home: 'so ought men to love their wives as their own bodies.' Just as a person naturally cares for his own body, so a husband should care for his wife. The two are so joined that her good and his are intertwined.
'He that loveth his wife loveth himself.' Because husband and wife are one, to love her is, in truth, to love oneself.
