Exodus 27 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

God plans a big altar for the courtyard — and a lamp that His people must keep burning, always.

Today's Story

In the courtyard around the tent, God planned a large altar where the people could bring their offerings to Him. There was also a fence-wall around the whole courtyard, marking off the special space.

And God gave a beautiful instruction about light. Inside the tent stood the golden lampstand, and God said the people were to keep its lamps burning every evening till morning. The light was never to go out.

A lamp that never goes out, glowing in God's house, all through every night.

It was a picture of something true: God's light never goes out — and His people are meant to keep His light shining.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. God's lamp was to stay lit always, never going out. How can WE keep God's light shining in our lives every day?
  2. The light glowed all through the night in God's house. When you're scared of the dark, how does it help to remember that God's light never goes out?
  3. The people brought offerings at the altar. What could you “bring” to God today — a thank-you, a song, a prayer?
