The LORD is instructing Moses how to erect and order the completed tabernacle. The ark goes behind the vail, the table and candlestick are arranged, and the gold incense altar stands before the testimony. Verse 6 places the burnt offering altar before the tabernacle door. Verse 7 places the laver between the tent and that altar. The tabernacle and every vessel are then anointed and sanctified. Aaron and his sons are washed, clothed, anointed, and appointed to priestly ministry. Moses later places the altar as commanded and offers the burnt offering and meat offering upon it before the LORD's glory fills the tabernacle.
What Does Exodus 40:6 Mean?

The lasting lesson is to receive God's appointed means of approach and to organize worship so that safety, responsibility, and the true center of the gathering are clear.
Hebrews declares that Jesus Christ offered His body once for all and sat down after His complete sacrifice for sins. Christian confidence therefore rests in Christ's finished offering, which fulfills the sacrificial story without treating Israel's altar with contempt. We do not construct a burnt offering altar or repeat His sacrifice. We draw near through Him with gratitude, presenting praise, generosity, justice, and lives of faithful service. Every church space and practice should make the good news of Christ clearer rather than placing a leader, payment, or performance at the door to mercy.
