What Does Ezra 2:34 Mean?

Three hundred forty-five return to Jericho, the ancient city near the Jordan, first of the cities Israel had entered when it came into the land long before.

Jericho stood at the threshold of the original conquest, its walls falling as Israel first claimed the promise. Its resettlement now is fitting — a second entering of the land, as God brings His people once more across the threshold into their inheritance.
