What Does Ezra 6:10 Mean?
Darius states why he supplies the offerings, that the priests may present sacrifices of sweet savor and pray for him and his household. A foreign monarch sought the prayers of God's people, sensing that their God could bless his life and reign.
Even a pagan king reached for the favor of the living God through intercession. The people of God are called to pray for those in authority, that life may be peaceful. And the 'sweet savour' of true worship points beyond itself to the one perfect offering, in whom alone our prayers and sacrifices become acceptable to God.
