What Does Ezra 6:7 Mean?
The king's order is plain: leave the work alone. The governor and the elders of the Jews are to build the house of God on its own site without interference. What the officials had tried to stop, the throne now expressly permits.
God can make even an empire's decree a shelter for His people's obedience. The leaders who had pressed on in faith, trusting the Lord more than the threats around them, were now free to finish. The hand that restrains the proud also clears the way for the faithful.
