What Does Galatians 4:2 Mean?
The young heir is placed under guardians and stewards who oversee his life and property. He is not free to act on his own; others direct him until the date the father has fixed for him to come into his own.
Everything waits on the father's appointed time. The arrangement is temporary by design, set to expire when maturity comes. Paul is preparing to say that God, too, set a time — and that time has now come in Christ, ending the season of guardianship.
