What Does Galatians 6:8 Mean?
Paul names the two fields a person may plant. He that soweth to his flesh — who invests his life in self-centered desire — shall of the flesh reap corruption, a harvest of decay that rots and passes away. The flesh can yield nothing more lasting than itself.
But he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. To live by the Spirit, to invest in what God values, is to plant seed that yields eternal life. The choice is daily and concrete: every act sows into one field or the other. Paul does not present this as cold accounting but as glad invitation. Sow to the Spirit, and the harvest is life that never ends.
