Isaac follows in his father's footsteps — digging wells, making peace, and trusting the same God who was with Abraham.
Today's Story
There was no rain and food was scarce, but God told Isaac, “Stay in this land, and I will be with you and bless you, just as I promised your father Abraham.” So Isaac stayed and planted crops — and that year God blessed him with a harvest a hundred times over! Isaac became very rich, with flocks and herds.
But the people nearby got jealous. They had filled in all the wells that Isaac's father Abraham had dug long ago. (Wells were precious — water meant life!) So Isaac and his servants dug them out again.
Every time Isaac dug a well, the local herders argued: “That water is ours!” Isaac could have fought them. Instead, each time, he peacefully moved on and dug another well. He kept choosing peace over quarreling.
Finally he dug a well that nobody argued over. Isaac named it “Room.” “Now God has given us room,” he said, “and we can flourish here.”
Then God appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not be afraid. I am with you. I will bless you.” So Isaac built an altar and worshiped God. Even the jealous people noticed: “We can see that God is with you.” And they came and made peace with him.
Isaac trusted God, chose peace again and again, and God blessed him — the very same God who had been with his father.
