God calls them again to consider, marking this very day—the day the temple's foundation was laid—as a turning point to watch.

What Does Haggai 2:18 Mean?

For the third time in this passage the Lord says ‘consider,’ and now He fixes the people's attention on the present moment: the day the foundation was relaid. From this day forward they are to watch what God will do. The repeated summons builds toward the promise of blessing that the next verse will announce. This date is to be a marker dividing what was from what will be.

God invites His people to draw a line in time and remember it—to mark the day obedience began as the day everything started to change. There is hope in such a marker. The past of barrenness is closing; a new season is opening. The Lord would have His people stand on this threshold consciously, expectantly, knowing that wholehearted return to Him is never too late and that He delights to date His blessings from the day His people turn.
