What Does Hebrews 7:19 Mean?
This verse states the heart of the matter. The law, for all its glory, made nothing perfect; it could expose sin and point the way, but it could not finish the work of bringing sinners home. Its purpose was preparation, not arrival.
In its place God brings in a better hope, and through that hope we draw near to God. This is the great promise of the gospel, that the distance is closed and the way into His presence is opened. What the law could only gesture toward, Christ accomplishes, so that we who were far off may come near with confidence to the Father.
