The Lord pictures a renewed creation responding in harmony to His word of blessing.

What Does Hosea 2:21 Mean?

God describes a beautiful chain of response. He will answer the heavens, and the heavens will answer the earth -- a picture of all creation set back in tune, each part responding to the next at the Lord's initiating word. The blessing begins with God and flows down through the whole created order.

Where idolatry had bent everything out of joint, restored fellowship with God puts creation back in harmony. This is the opposite of the curse: abundance flowing freely because the relationship at the center is healed. It pictures the day when all things gladly answer their Maker, and every channel of blessing -- sky, soil, harvest -- runs open again from the hand of the God who first set them in order.
