Those who labor will enjoy the fruit of their own harvest, eating and drinking in gratitude within the Lord's holy sanctuary.

Context

The promise of verse 8 finds its fulfillment here. The workers themselves will consume the harvest and offer praise in the temple courts, uniting toil with worship.

What Does Isaiah 62:9 Mean?

The poetry moves from protection to joy. Not only will the enemies be barred from plundering the harvest, but those who gathered it will eat it themselves. They will sit at table with their own grain, their own wine, the labor of their own hands. And more than mere satisfaction, they will praise the Lord, turning the meal itself into an act of worship. Even more intimate, they gather in the courts of his holiness, bringing their thanksgiving directly before him. The harvest becomes a sacrament, a meal of gratitude and communion with God.

We taste this promise whenever our labor yields fruit and we offer thanks. When the mother sees her children flourish, when the worker sees the fruit of faithful effort, when the believer witnesses the Spirit's work in answered prayer, we join this feast in God's courts. We eat and drink and praise, knowing that God has let us keep what we have sown and harvested, and more than that, he invites us into his presence to celebrate it.

In the Original Language

kodesh (קֹדֶש), 'holiness' -- that which is set apart for God, sacred, the sanctuary itself

Application

How might your daily meals become a time of gratitude and praise for God's protection of your labor? What would it look like to eat and drink in the consciousness of his courts?
