What Does Job 11:4 Mean?
Zophar now summarizes what he believes Job has been asserting: that his teaching is sound and that he is pure in God's sight. Job had indeed maintained his integrity, refusing the charge that some hidden sin had brought his ruin. Zophar repeats this back as if it were intolerable arrogance, the supposed proof that Job needs to be humbled.
Job had not claimed to be sinless before a holy God; he had claimed that his calamity was not the wage of some great secret crime. Zophar flattens that careful distinction into a boast of perfection.
