What Does Job 12:14 Mean?
Job begins to unfold God's irresistible power. When God breaks down, no hand can build it up again; when He shuts a man in, no one can open the door. The chapter now surveys how completely the affairs of the world lie under God's authority.
This is a sobering and steadying truth. Human plans and powers meet a limit at the will of God. Yet the same sovereignty that humbles us can also comfort us, for the God who alone can shut is also the One who alone can open. What He closes serves His purpose, and what He opens, none can shut. To know that ultimate power belongs to a wise and faithful God is to find rest even before doors we cannot move.
