Job opens with sharp sarcasm. His comforters have spoken as though they hold a monopoly on understanding, lecturing him about God's ways as if he were a stranger to them. 'Wisdom shall die with you' mocks their self-importance: as if, when they pass, knowledge itself would vanish from the earth.
