Here Job's address shifts from his friends to God Himself. He asks for just two things, which he will name in the next verses, so that he might come into God's presence openly rather than hiding himself in fear.
The longing to not hide from God runs deep in Scripture, all the way back to the garden, where sin first sent humanity into hiding. Job wants the opposite: to stand before God face to face, unconcealed. This is the cry of a heart that desires reconciliation more than escape.
