What Does Job 13:7 Mean?
Job now turns the accusation back on his friends with a piercing question. In their zeal to defend God against him, they have resorted to wicked and deceitful speech, twisting the truth to protect their theology of why he suffers.
The rebuke cuts to a danger every religious person faces: defending God with falsehood. God does not need to be shielded by lies. To distort the truth in His name is to dishonor Him, even when the motive seems pious. The Lord who is Himself the Truth takes no pleasure in arguments that bend reality to fit our assumptions. Genuine reverence speaks honestly, even when honesty is uncomfortable.
