What Does Job 13:9 Mean?
Job confronts his friends with a sobering thought: what if God turned His searching gaze on them? Their crooked defense might fool one another, but God cannot be deceived as one man deceives his neighbor.
This is a warning to all who speak glibly about God's ways. The same God whose justice they claim to defend will one day search the secrets of their own hearts. To handle holy things carelessly, imagining God will not notice, is a kind of mockery.
