What Does Job 19:6 Mean?
Job answers their theology with a claim of his own: whatever has happened, it is God's hand at work. The image of a net is that of a hunter snaring prey; Job feels caught, surrounded, unable to escape. He does not deny God's sovereignty over his trouble, he simply refuses to read that sovereignty as a verdict of guilt.
Here is faith wrestling in the dark. Job will not explain his suffering away by blaming chance or pretending God is absent. He holds God responsible and still holds onto God.
