What Does Job 2:1 Mean?
The scene returns to the unseen court that opened the book. As before, the heavenly beings gather to present themselves before God, and again the accuser appears among them. The word 'Again' tells the reader that what failed in chapter one is about to be attempted a second time, and that Job's trials unfold under heaven's watching eye, not by blind chance.
Behind the suffering we are about to witness stands a God who reigns over every power, seen and unseen. Nothing approaches Job that has not first passed through this throne room. For the believer this is steadying: our hardest days are never outside the Lord's knowledge or rule, and the One enthroned here is the same Lord whom Christ taught us to call Father.
