What Does Job 25:3 Mean?
Two rhetorical questions press home God's greatness. His 'armies' the innumerable hosts of heaven, are beyond counting. His 'light' rises upon everyone, leaving no person and no place outside its reach. Bildad means to overwhelm Job with the sheer scale of the Almighty.
There is comfort hidden in the picture, even if Bildad does not intend it. The light that reaches everyone shines on the suffering as well as the strong. Long after, that same theme returns when the true Light comes into the world, rising over all and leaving no one in darkness who turns toward him. God's reach is total, and his reach is mercy as well as might.
