What Does Job 3:15 Mean?
Job extends the picture from kings to princes, those who had gold and filled their houses with silver. Once a wealthy man himself, Job knows that riches do not follow their owners into death. The princes lie in the same rest as everyone else, their treasures left behind in houses they can no longer enter.
Job's words gently expose the limits of wealth. The silver that filled great houses purchases nothing in the grave. This is a theme the whole of Scripture echoes, warning that we brought nothing into the world and can carry nothing out.
