What Does Job 34:19 Mean?
Now Elihu reaches his point: God 'accepteth not the persons of princes' and gives the rich no advantage over the poor, 'for they all are the work of his hands.' Before the Maker, every distinction of rank dissolves. The mighty and the lowly stand on level ground, because both alike are His creatures.
This is one of Scripture's great comforts and warnings together. God is no respecter of persons; He cannot be impressed by status or swayed by wealth. The poor man's cry reaches Him as surely as the prince's. 'There is no respect of persons with God.' For the lowly this is hope; for the powerful, a summons to humility.
