What Does Job 37:8 Mean?
Elihu notes the response of the animal world to the weather God sends. When the cold and storm arrive, the beasts retreat into their dens and remain there, sheltering until it passes. Even the creatures of the wild bow to the rhythms their Maker has set.
The whole order of living things answers to God's governance of the seasons. The animals know, by the instinct He gave them, when to take cover. If the beasts obey the Maker's ordering of their world without resistance, how much more might a thinking soul learn to rest within the seasons God appoints. There is wisdom in knowing when to be still and take shelter, trusting that the Lord who sends the storm also keeps His creatures through it.
