What Does Job 9:33 Mean?
Here Job utters one of the most poignant longings in all of Scripture. He cries out for a daysman, an umpire or mediator, who could stand between him and God and lay a hand upon them both, bringing the two together. In his pain he feels there is no such one, and the absence is unbearable.
Yet what Job longed for and could not see, God has given. There is now one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who lays one hand on God and one on us and joins them in Himself. The daysman Job wept for in the dark has come; the longing of the suffering heart is answered in the Son who reconciles us to the Father.
