What Does Job 9:7 Mean?
Job turns from the earth to the heavens. God speaks, and the sun fails to rise; He seals up the stars as one seals a letter, hiding their light. The greatest lights of the sky obey a single command. Day and night themselves are His servants.
The point lands with force: if even the sun answers to God, how shall a mortal demand a hearing on his own terms? And yet the same Lord who can darken the sun is the light that no darkness overcomes. When our skies go black with grief, He has not lost command; the light is sealed only for a season, never spent.
