What Does Joshua 15:13 Mean?
The narrative pauses on a single man. Caleb receives Hebron, once called Kiriath-arba after a great forefather of the Anakim. This grant is made according to the commandment of the LORD, for forty-five years earlier Caleb had wholly followed the Lord when the other spies brought back fear.
Caleb's portion is the reward of a faith that outlasted a whole generation. He had believed God when believing was costly and unpopular, and now he holds in his hand the very hill country he once stood ready to take. The Lord keeps long accounts, and He honors those who follow Him fully when others draw back.
