What Does Joshua 15:3 Mean?
The line climbs the scorpion pass (Maaleh-acrabbim) and goes by Zin to Kadesh-barnea, a place heavy with memory: it was from there the spies once went up, and there the people refused to enter. Now the boundary of the inheritance runs right past it.
What once marked a place of failure is now a marker of possession. The ground where an earlier generation drew back in fear is encircled by the land God has at last given. He does not abandon His purposes when His people falter; He carries them forward to the inheritance He always intended.
