What Does Joshua 15:58 Mean?
Another set of highland towns is named: Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor. Beth-zur, meaning house of the rock, sat on a height near Hebron and would later be fortified as a stronghold.
A town named for the rock speaks of strength and security in the high country. The inheritance held places of refuge as well as of dwelling. The God who gives the land is Himself the Rock in whom His people find their lasting safety.
