What Does Joshua 22:3 Mean?
Joshua presses the commendation further. Through many days of war -- years away from their own fields and households -- these tribes did not desert their brethren. They held to the charge of the commandment of the Lord.
To keep a charge is to guard something entrusted to you as a sacred duty. Loyalty that does not break under the weight of time is a reflection of God's own faithfulness to His people. The believer is called to this same perseverance, never leaving the work or the family of faith until what God has promised is fully accomplished.
