What Does Judges 8:35 Mean?
The chapter ends with a second failure: Israel showed no kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, that is, Gideon, in return for all the good he had done for them. Their forgetfulness of God spills over into ingratitude toward his servant.
Hearts that forget God soon forget one another. Having abandoned the LORD, the people also cast aside their debt of love to the family of the man who saved them, setting the stage for the tragedy of the next chapter.
