1 Peter 5 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

This is the last part of Peter's letter. He saves one of the most comforting things for the very end.

Today's Story

Peter is finishing his letter to God's family. He wants to leave them with something warm to hold onto.

First, he tells the leaders to take care of God's people gently, like a kind shepherd takes care of his sheep. And he tells everyone to be humble — that means putting others first and not bragging.

Then Peter writes the words that have comforted people for a very long time. He knew that everyone worries sometimes. Worries are those heavy, scary feelings that sit on us like a backpack full of rocks. Peter says we do not have to carry them alone.

He says, “Turn all your worries over to God. He cares about you.” Imagine taking off that heavy backpack and handing it to your strong dad to carry. That is what God invites us to do with every single worry.

Why can we do that? Because God cares about you. Not just everyone in general — you, by name. The big things and the little things that worry you matter to Him.

Peter ends his letter with peace. He reminds them that God is strong, God is good, and God is holding them. They never have to be afraid.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. Is there anything you have been worried about lately? You can say it out loud right now.
  2. Peter says God wants us to hand Him our worries, like handing someone a heavy bag. What worry would you like to give to God today?
  3. How does it feel to know that God cares about you — not just everybody, but you?
