1 Samuel 12 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Samuel gives the people a loving goodbye message — full of one big promise about God.

Today's Story

Samuel had served God and the people faithfully his whole life. Now that there was a king, Samuel gathered everyone for an important talk. “I've been honest and fair with you all my life,” he said, and the people agreed it was true.

Samuel reminded them of all the wonderful things God had done — how He had rescued them again and again. Then he gently warned them: “Don't turn away from God. Serve Him faithfully with all your heart, and remember the great things He has done for you.”

The people were worried they had done wrong by asking for a king. But Samuel comforted them with a beautiful promise: “Don't be afraid. Even though you've made mistakes, God will NOT abandon His people. He has chosen you and loves you. And as for me, I will keep praying for you and teaching you what is good!”

What a comforting message! Even when God's people mess up, God doesn't give up on them. And faithful people like Samuel keep praying for others and pointing them back to God.
