Paul kept writing to his young friend Timothy. In this part of the letter, he taught God's family how to pray.
Today's Story
Paul wanted Timothy to teach God's family one of the most important things they could ever do together: pray.
“First of all,” Paul wrote, “pray for everyone.” Not just your friends. Not just the people who are nice to you. Everyone.
“Pray for the kings and leaders too,” Paul said, “so we can all live quiet, peaceful lives.” Paul knew that when God's family prays, hearts get softer and the whole world becomes a calmer place.
Why pray for so many people? Because God loves so many people! “God wants everyone to be saved,” Paul wrote. “He wants everyone to come to know the truth.”
There is one God, Paul said, and one Helper who brings us close to God — and that is Jesus.
Then Paul gave a happy reminder. When you pray, you don't have to be angry or grumpy or arguing. You can lift up your hands with a calm, kind heart and simply talk to God.

Talk About It
- Who is someone you saw today that you could pray for tonight?
- Paul said to pray even for leaders we have never met. Why do you think God cares about people we don't know?
- How does it feel to know God hears you every single time you talk to Him?
