1 Timothy 3 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Paul's letter kept helping Timothy. Now Paul wrote about the people who help lead God's family — and what makes a good helper.

Today's Story

Every family needs helpers. God's family has helpers too — people who care for everyone, teach about Jesus, and make sure no one is left out.

Paul wanted Timothy to choose these helpers carefully. So he made a list. But the list might surprise you!

Paul did not say, “Pick the strongest person.” He did not say, “Pick the richest, or the loudest, or the one who can run the fastest.”

Instead Paul said a helper should be gentle. Kind. Not someone who argues all the time. Someone who tells the truth and keeps their promises. Someone who is kind to strangers and warm to their family at home.

In other words, the best helpers are the ones who are good on the inside, where only God can see. People you can trust.

Paul reminded Timothy why this matters so much. God's family is like a big, wonderful house, and Jesus is the most important part of it. Helpers get to take care of something very precious.
