For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up
Paul kept writing to Timothy, who was still young. In this part of the letter, Paul gave him a brave and wonderful job to do.
Today's Story
Timothy was young. Maybe some grown-ups looked at him and thought, “He's too little to lead. He's too young to matter.”
But Paul did not think that at all. So he wrote Timothy some of the kindest, bravest words in the whole letter.
“Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young,” Paul said. Instead, Paul gave Timothy a job: be an example.
What does that mean? It means show everyone how to live by living it yourself. “Be an example in the way you talk,” Paul wrote. “Be an example in love. Be an example in believing God. Be an example in being pure and kind.”
Paul knew a secret: you don't have to be big or old to show people what God is like. A child who is loving and kind and tells the truth can teach a whole room of grown-ups just by being good.
“Keep practicing these things,” Paul said. “Don't give up. Everyone will see you growing.”

Talk About It
- Has anyone ever said you were too little to do something? How did that feel?
- Paul said even young people can be a good example. What is one way you could show love today, all on your own?
- Who is someone who is a good example to you? What do you like to copy about them?
