2 Corinthians is a letter Paul wrote to help God's family love God and love each other.
In this part, some loud people were bragging. Paul shows there is a better way.
Today's Story
Paul loved the people in Corinth like a dad loves his kids. He had taught them all about Jesus. But while Paul was away, some new teachers showed up. They were loud. They liked to brag. And they kept saying, “Don't listen to Paul. Listen to us!”
This made Paul sad, because he did not want the people to be tricked. So Paul wrote them a letter.
“Those teachers like to brag about how great they are,” Paul said. “If we are going to talk about ourselves, let me tell you the true story.”
And then Paul told them. He had been hungry. He had been cold. He had been in storms on the sea. People had been mean to him and even hurt him. But he never quit telling people about Jesus.
“I'm not bragging about being strong,” Paul said. “If I'm going to brag, I'll brag about the times I was weak — because that's when everyone could see it was God helping me, not me.”
Paul did not need to be the loudest. He just kept loving God and loving people, no matter what.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- Have you ever heard someone brag a lot? How did it make you feel to be around them?
- Paul kept going even when things were really hard. What is something hard you kept doing because it was the right thing?
- Instead of bragging, how could you let people see your love today without saying a word?
