2 Kings 25 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

This is the last chapter of a long story, and it has a sad part. But hold on - even here, a little light is shining. God's story is not finished.

Today's Story

After the people had wandered far from God for a long, long time, a sad day finally came. The big, powerful kingdom of Babylon came to Jerusalem, God's special city. The city was taken, and the people had to leave their homes and travel far away to live in Babylon.

Can you imagine packing up and leaving everything you know? It was a hard, sad time. The people cried for their city and their homes.

But here is the thing to remember: God had not forgotten them. He was still their God, even far away in Babylon. He had made promises long ago, and God always keeps His promises. This was not the end of the story.

And right at the very end of the chapter, a tiny light shines. There was a king from God's people who had been shut away. One day he was set free, given clean clothes, and invited to eat at the king's own table every single day. A small, gentle reminder: God was still watching over His people, and better days were coming.

God's story was not over. It never is. He keeps loving, He keeps His promises, and one day He would bring His people home.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. Have you ever felt sad about something, and then a little bit of good news made you feel hopeful again? What happened?
  2. The people had to leave their homes, but God went with them and never forgot them. How does it help to know God is with us even on hard days?
  3. God always keeps His promises. What is a promise from God that makes you feel safe and happy?
