King David faces challenge after challenge — and the Bible keeps repeating one little phrase that explains how he kept coming through.
Today's Story
Now that David was king over all the land, he had a big job: keeping his people safe. Enemies came from this side and that side, again and again.
And as you read the story, you start to notice the same words popping up over and over, like the chorus of a song: The LORD gave David victory everywhere he went. This way? Victory. That way? Victory. Up north, down south — God helped David, every single time.
David didn't win because he was the cleverest or the strongest king around. He won because God was helping him.
And David was a good and fair king, too. The Bible says he did what was fair and right for all his people. He didn't use his power to be a bully. He used it to take care of others.
Over and over, in everything, God was with David — and that made all the difference.

Talk About It
- The Bible says God helped David “everywhere he went.” Where are some places you go where you'd like God's help?
- David was a king who was fair to everyone. How can you be fair to the people around you?
- David didn't win by being the strongest. Why is it good news that we don't have to do everything on our own?
