Daniel 4 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

The most powerful king in the world is about to learn the most important lesson: who's REALLY in charge.

Today's Story

King Nebuchadnezzar had everything — a huge kingdom, a grand palace, more power than anyone. But he started to grow very proud. He had a dream of a giant tree, big and beautiful, suddenly chopped down. Daniel told him what it meant: “O king, if you stay proud and don't honor God, you'll be brought low. Turn back to God!”

But the king didn't listen. One day, walking on his palace roof, he boasted, “Look at this great kingdom I built — by MY power, for MY glory!”

The words were still in his mouth when it happened. The proud king lost his throne and his right mind, and for a long time he lived out in the fields like a wild animal. All his power was gone.

Then, finally, the humbled king looked UP — up to heaven — and his right mind came back. And he praised God: “Now I know the truth. God is the Most High. He rules forever. Everything I have came from Him.”

The proudest man in the world learned the lesson: God is the One who's really in charge. The king got his kingdom back — but now he gave God the glory.
