Ecclesiastes 11 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Near the end of his book, the Teacher gives some of his happiest advice yet — especially for young people like you.

Today's Story

The Teacher had spent a long time thinking about life. Now he had some bright, hopeful things to say.

First, he said, “Be generous! Share what you have with others. It's like scattering bread out on the water — you may not see it come back right away, but good things come back to a kind and giving heart.”

Then he said, “Don't spend your life worrying. A farmer who only watches the wind and the clouds never plants anything! There will always be a reason to be afraid. So go ahead — plant your seeds, try your best, and trust God with the parts you can't control.”

Then the Teacher leaned in close, like he was talking right to a young person. He said, “Light is sweet, and it's a good thing to see the sunshine. So be happy while you are young! Enjoy your days. Do good things. And remember God in everything — because life is a gift, and He is the One who gave it.”

Talk About It

  1. The Teacher said to be generous and share, even before you see anything come back. What is something you have that you could share with someone this week?
  2. He said a farmer who only watches the clouds never plants anything. What is something you'd like to try, even though a little part of you feels nervous?
  3. The Teacher said to be glad while you are young and to remember God. What is one thing about being a kid that makes you happy and thankful?
