In Ecclesiastes 4, the Teacher learns something warm and wonderful: life is so much better when we are not all alone.
Today's Story
The Teacher saw a person who worked and worked, all by himself. He had no friends to share with. He had no one to help him. And even when he had plenty, there was no one to enjoy it with. “That is a sad and empty way to live,” the Teacher thought.
Then he had a happy idea. “Two are better than one!” he said.
Think about it. If one friend falls down, the other one can help them up. If you are cold at night, two can keep each other warm. And if someone tries to push one person over, two friends standing together are strong and hard to knock down.
The Teacher said a rope is even stronger. One little string breaks easily. But three strings twisted together are very hard to snap! Friends are like that — stronger together.
God did not make us to live all alone. He gives us family and friends so we can help each other, warm each other, and stand strong together.
A Big Word

Talk About It
- The Teacher says if one friend falls, the other can help them up. When has a friend or family member helped you when you needed it?
- Who is someone you love to do things together with? What do you like to do?
- Is there someone you know who feels lonely? How could you be a good friend to them this week?
